Who we are

My name is Sarah Jackson and I’m a journalist. Both my career and my life are based in Tulsa. I was born and raised in this beautiful city and studied at the University of Tulsa. I love my profession and always had a passion for a good story. I remember being little and going to the city center for a walk with my father, I remember walking back and forth to school every day, and then driving my bike when I was a little older. All these experiences have made me a true Tulsan, and this is what I am and want to share with the world.

Studying at the university was hard enough and during the last two years, I had to do it while working, which was not a picnic. But I knew what I wanted and kept going because I realized that at some point, I will do what I love. Now, I am an English teacher at two local high schools and regularly write a few pieces for local newspapers.

Working in the educational field of Oklahoma, and particularly Tulsa, is a great honor for me and I feel grateful to give back something to the community. Education in our country is certainly important to build a better future and I surely want to be a part of this. My work as a journalist is the perfect way to make this happen.

Our vision: Tulsa in the heart of every American

Naturally, there came a time in which I decided to write my own blog. The original idea was to describe this great city in my own words but soon I wanted more. I understood that I desired to reflect the soul of my community and sharing news was one of the best ways to do it. This is how I started to create my own editorial team writing the pieces myself at first and then delegating them to other people.

Thanks to my editorial team, formed of writers and editors, I feel confident enough because I can share the type of information that I want. What I wanted from the very beginning was to write about Tulsa, and now I get to do it by sharing local news in my own style.

Our goal: reach every Tulsan

As I said, the original idea was to write my own stuff to entertain people. But now I want to do more than that: I want to entertain them as I keep them informed. The New Tulsa Star is a place where people can feel at home and connect with the community. Through the blog, all of this is possible.

Our mission: support and valuable information for the people of Tulsa

The world has become a scary place for the new generations who have to deal with issues like global warming, inflation, environmental issues, unemployment, etcetera. Thus, I and my team want to support the community and contribute with what we find most valuable: great content.

With this goal in mind, the New Tulsa Star is made by a group of enthusiasts of which I am the proud founder. Originally from Tulsa, we are committed to our city and want to see it thrive for many years to come.
